MIDDLE school
We believe that Middle School students are extraordinary. Their independence, clarity of thought, and willingness to explore new ideas inspire us to infuse learning with meaning. The energy is electric and wires this division for exploration and impact.
Students begin their Middle School journey with a sixth grade experience that’s designed to lay the foundation for academic success and help them get to know their teachers and the many new-to-Lovett students who join our community. In addition to their academic study of math, science, language arts, and social studies, students in sixth grade take courses in physical education and world languages while also rotating through STEAM sessions.
Seventh grade students gain more opportunity to shape their academic and extracurricular experiences. They choose elective courses in the arts and technology and can begin or continue study in either Spanish, French, Latin, or Chinese. Students can also participate in athletic teams with at least one no-cut sport in each athletic season.
By the time they reach eighth grade, students are challenged to stretch their creative and critical thinking skills through passion-driven projects, leadership training, and service learning experiences. These classes and activities encourage students in their path of self-discovery in preparation for their Upper School experience.

Learning Experiences
In the Middle School, students deepen their connections with community organizations and develop leadership skills. Students have the opportunity to be a part of the Student Leadership Council to explore different leadership styles and impact their own school experience. After school, students travel to Agape Youth and Family Center to provide homework help and serve as STEAM tutors. The eighth grade Civic Leadership class combines civics curricular goals with community-based learning objectives to better connect academic study and real-world experiences. Eighth grade students also travel to Washington, D.C. to witness how the U.S. government works and deepen connections with their peers.
